Wild Ginger

Wild Ginger.  Asarum arifolium.   Look at the base of the stem and the stick for the green-purplish flower which is urn shaped.  You can just make out the yellow color at the top of the flower.   The root has a ginger fragrance. This is not the seasoning ginger but some references that if boiled with sugar it makes an acceptable substitute.  Please do not pick it here though.

  1. It's a joy to hike the Dunnavant Trail and observe the breath taking birth of the Appalachian Spring. For a nature conservationist there's a photograph around every bend. Keep about the good work.
